SHEPPARD KAUFMAN, Founder and President
Idea Asylum’s President and Founder, Sheppard Kaufman, brings over twenty years of experience in television, film, and theater to Idea Asylum. His most recent projects include serving as Series Producer for a 4+ hour Disney Educational documentary set covering every U.S. President. He has produced and directed ABC’s live Affiliate meeting presentations for the last two years. In 2011, he created a desktop application for ABCs Affiliate Marketing & Promotion team that included localization options for the network’s affiliates. Shep has also overseen IAP’s expansion of services to include network playout and channel management, and served as the consultant for a ground-up satellite channel start-up – which is now in its 2nd year of operation.
Prior to starting Idea Asylum, Shep spent nearly ten years in various capacities at ABC On-Air Promotion. While there, he created campaigns and spots for the Emmy Awards, Home Improvement, Roseanne, Coach, and more. He was also tapped to produce numerous corporate projects for the ABC Television Network Group and ABC Entertainment. In addition to ABC, Shep has written and produced promo and marketing projects for Columbia Pictures International Television, Children’s Television Workshop, TNT, Universal Studios, and Mirage Resorts. He has also served as a writer, producer, and editor on productions whose topics range from the Olympic Torch Relay to the MOMIX/ISO Dance Troupe. Shep’s early background includes lighting and sound design credits on various Los Angeles theater productions. He thrives on Idea Asylum’s diverse list of creative projects, as well as the expanded array of services the company offers – and always enjoys a new challenge…as well as generally being much funnier than it would seem in this bio.
